Meet Alexis Showers

Healing is more than relieving symptoms—it is remembering who you are, reconnecting with your body, and restoring your relationship with community, tradition, and spirit.
I created The House of Obba to be a place where those ancient ways of healing are preserved, practiced, and shared.
For more than three decades, I have studied traditional medicine through herbalism, bodywork, ritual practice, and ancestral healing traditions. My work brings together evidence-informed wellness practices with time-honored healing systems that have supported communities for generations.
Today, I serve as a Traditional Medicine Practitioner, herbalist, licensed massage therapist, 5NP Auricular Acupuncture practitioner, educator, and spiritual guide, helping people regulate the nervous system, reconnect with their bodies, and become active participants in their own healing.
As a crowned child of Obba Nani in the Lucumí tradition, my spiritual practice deeply informs how I approach healing—with reverence, integrity, and a profound respect for lineage. Every service, class, and handcrafted remedy offered through The House of Obba is created with intention and rooted in tradition.
A Lifetime of Learning
My journey into herbal medicine began more than 30 years ago.
Throughout that time, I have studied Western herbalism, Curanderismo, Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, aromatherapy, bodywork, movement practices, and community healing traditions.
I also completed advanced education in women's herbal medicine through Community Herbal Education programs, expanding my ability to support people through every stage of life.
These traditions have taught me that healing is never one-size-fits-all. It requires listening—to the body, to the spirit, to our ancestors, and to the wisdom that already lives within us.
That philosophy shapes every consultation, every herbal formulation, every bodywork session, and every educational offering at The House of Obba.
Education Is Medicine
One of the greatest forms of healing is understanding.
For more than ten years, I have taught classes on herbal medicine, ritual and ceremony, traditional healing practices, movement, and spiritual development.
My goal has never been to create dependence—it has always been to empower others with knowledge.
Whether someone joins a community workshop, attends a seasonal class, or participates in an apprenticeship, they leave with practical skills, deeper confidence, and a stronger connection to their own healing traditions.
I believe every family once carried medicinal knowledge. My work is to help people remember it.
The House of Obba
The House of Obba is more than a botanica or apothecary.
It is a modern healing house where traditional medicine, herbal wisdom, bodywork, ritual, education, and community come together.
Here you'll find thoughtfully handcrafted herbal remedies, ritual supplies, educational programs, nervous system-focused bodywork, auricular acupuncture, seasonal wellness offerings, and opportunities to explore traditional healing in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Whether you're seeking relief from stress, chronic tension, burnout, grief, or simply looking to deepen your connection to traditional medicine, you'll find compassionate guidance rooted in experience, education, and respect for the traditions that continue to inspire this work.
My Promise
Healing isn't something that is done to you.
It is something we learn to steward.
My role is not to "fix" people. It is to walk beside them as a guide, offering knowledge, traditional practices, and compassionate support while they rediscover the wisdom already living within themselves.
When you visit The House of Obba, my hope is that you leave feeling safe, empowered, connected, and reminded that healing has always been your birthright.
